Visited Central Saint Martins for an Open Day and saw the work of one of their students, Sarah Almoosa, who had produced her own Londoner Starter Kit. Given that we collate lots of advice for businesses entering the UK market, we thought Saran’s view of what was important to share with international people moving to London would be interesting. It features the Oyster card tea bags and an umbrella – (yup, we agree they are all essentials) but it also suggested a dummy wallet, hair dye (apparently one million women in the UK spend at least £100 on having their hair coloured at a salon every six and a half weeks) and bacteria wipes (the booklet tells us that the Victoria Line has 22 different types of living bacteria). The idea is that “once you have completed the steps by getting the items in order to be a true Londoner and fit in” you hand this over to someone else in need of it who is new to London. We will.
