Force for Good Initiative

We were appointed Police Mutual’s PR agency in May 2015 and have since sold in their half year trading statement, supported their sponsorship of the Police Bravery Awards and worked closely with them on the launch of their national community sponsorship initiative, Force for Good. Following the initiative’s launch on 1 September 2015, over 1,200 members of the police family nominated causes that enhance the lives and wellbeing of their local communities, some of which they know through their local policing work. Nominations were received from all 43 police forces throughout the country. After much deliberation, 152 local projects were awarded between £200 and £1,000 from a total pot of £50,000.

After working with Police Mutual to establish what the initiative would look like and how the logistics would work, we selected 23 of the 152 winning projects to take to the media. After interviewing both the member of the police family who nominated them and the initiative leader, we drafted and sold in their stories. This resulted in 34 pieces of regional coverage in just a month, spanning radio, regional newspapers, websites and blogs and overall reached more than 3 million readers.

Due to the great response from police forces throughout the country and the exceptionally high standard of local initiatives nominated, the Police Mutual Foundation will be offering an additional £100,000 for the second and third phases of the initiative in 2016; applications for the second tranche opened on Monday 1 February and we look forward to helping Police Mutual assist valuable local initiatives again this year.
